Precision Medical Inc is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a focus of respiratory medical products developed in an R&D and product design environment.

The engineer will work with other R&D staff, developing mechanical designs from concept through detailed design and manufacturing release. There will be a strong emphasis on plastic designs that include injection molding and thermoforming, as well as sheet metal, machined parts, electronics, pneumatic components and circuits. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing basic feasibility studies, interfacing with cross-functional teams, creating design and test specifications, conducting design verification tests, supporting and/or coordinating prototype builds, and working with external vendors, contractors, and manufacturers. Must be a hands-on creative thinker.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with an emphasis on design/development engineering experience
  • Fluent in statics and strengths of materials.
  • Strong background in molded part design, pneumatic management a strong plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Comfortable and proficient with usage FEA tools for design.
  • Clear understanding and application of DFMA principles.
  • Experience in a FDA, ISO 13485, or other highly regulated environment.
  • CAD design software, Solidworks or related.
  • Ability to use a statistical approach when analyzing and evaluating alternatives to manufacturing or product related issues.
  • Must be able to work independently/self-motivated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop mechanical designs and specifications for systems and subsystem components that support Product Requirements.
  • Develop tests and analyze resulting data and reports to verify designs meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Prepare product and system CAD layouts, assemblies, detail drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and contribute to product related user documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with contract documentation personnel as needed and interface with contract manufacturers to resolve technical or documentation related issues.
  • Procure parts, build, and test proof-of-concept prototype devices or subassemblies.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams to assure smooth production release of new products.
  • Participate in review and optimization of company processes related to data management, revision control, configuration management, and documentation standards.
  • Utilize Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly concepts to optimize manufacturing processes, ease of service, and identify cost saving opportunities.
