Follow along as Precision Medical’s national sales manager of our homecare division, Patrick Ferry, goes over how to properly use and care for your Live Active Five POC.

Setting Up Your Device

The first thing you will need to do is set up your device. If this is the first time you are setting up your Live Active Five, you will need to charge it. Locate your power supply and plug it into an outlet. Make sure you see the little green light on the power supply that indicates it is properly plugged in. Then, take the adaptor and plug it into the back of the portable oxygen concentrator.

Once plugged in, you will see the screen on the device will light up and it will first read Precision Medical, followed by the serial number of the unit, and the current battery charge.

If the portable oxygen concentrator is low on battery, you can charge it or simply replace the battery with a new charged battery (sold separately).

You will be able to see if the battery is charged, directly on the battery itself by clicking the indicator on the bottom front.

Using Your Device

Now that your Live Active Five POC is fully charged, it is ready to use. Simply unplug the POC from the power supply and place it in the carry bag that you received with the device. The carry bag will make using your device a hands-free experience.

Make sure you place the device properly in the bag by locating the vents on the back of the Live Active Five. The mesh on the bag should perfectly align with the vents.

Then, take the Velcro bag strap, place over the top of the device and attach to the other side of the bag to secure your Live Active Five in the bag.

Once the Live Active Five is in the bag, attach your nasal cannula to the side outlet of the device. Make sure it is secured, so it does not fall out. Then, take the other end of the cannula and locate your nares. They should be facing towards you as you place them into your nostrils and loop the side cords over your ears.

Snap on your bag straps, and you are ready to wear your Live Active Five POC!

You can then turn your device on to your prescribed setting. Make sure to breathe through your nose. You will feel a pulse of oxygen delivered through the nasal cannula every time you breathe through your nose correctly.

Device Maintenance

To get the most out of your Live Active Five POC, proper maintenance is important. You want to make sure your device is always clean and dry.

Cleaning the filters weekly (even twice a week) is strongly encouraged. Locate the POC filters on the front sides of the device. They are easy to remove. You should take them out, wash them with warm water and soap, and allow them to fully dry before placing them back into the Live Active Five. You can also purchase more filters separately.

Here are some precautions to be aware of:

  1. Do not leave your unit in a parked car for a long period of time when it is cold or too hot outside. It does not work well below 35 degrees or above 104 degrees.
  2. If the device setting buttons start lighting up and/or it starts beeping, your concentrator is trying to alert you to a problem. Make sure you either contact your homecare provider or us at Precision Medical.
  3. Make sure you do not get your device wet. When cleaning it, make sure to use some alcohol on a paper towel or sponge. Do not wash it using water.
